(WAUSAU, WI)- The RiverWolves are home again this weekend for a matchup with the Oregon Tradesmen. The game is scheduled for Friday at Marathon Park with a 7:10 start time. The RiverWolves are 1-2 vs the Tradesmen so far with the lone win coming at the RiverWolves home opener October 9th. The Tradesmen are currently 4th in the Central Division after splitting a weekend series with Milwaukee.

What to Watch For

Last weekend, RiverWolves forward Kasey Couture scored two goals in route to a 5-2 victory over the Peoria Mustangs, who are second in the Central Division. Couture is coming off a hot season last year, 15 goals and 23 assists, and is looking to get hot towards the end of this season. He currently has four goals and four assists.

The Tradesmen currently hold a 12-13 record. Oregon is led by the duo of Parker Severson, of Saginaw, MI, and Sam VanderHoeven, of Beaver Dam, WI. Severson has 15 goals and 13 assists in 21 games, and VanderHoeven has 15 goals and 12 assists in 25 games.

Caleb Sauer is expected to start tonight for the RiverWolves. Sauer has turned back 297 of 339 shots for an 87.6% save percentage. His record currently stands 2-5-1 on the season.

The Tradesmen are expected to start Hunter Adams in net tonight. Walter is a native of Arlington, TX, and has an 89.5% save percentage.

(WAUSAU, WI)- The RiverWolves are back home this weekend with a three-game series against the Peoria Mustangs. The game times are set for 7:10 pm on both Friday and Saturday, and 12:10 pm on Sunday. The RiverWolves are currently winless in four games versus the 2nd place team in the Central Division. This will be the first time Peoria visits Wausau this season, so the RiverWolves will look to get into the win column at the friendly confines of Marathon Park. The RiverWolves will be looking to carry some momentum from last week’s play at Rochester.

What to Watch For

Last week, RiverWolves defenseman Ethan Cumming was the NA3HL Central Star of the Week. Cumming, out of St. Cloud, MN, joined the RiverWolves on January 15th and has been on a tear ever since. Last Friday vs the Grizzlies, Cumming netted two goals, followed by another two goals and an assist on Saturday. Cumming is averaging a point-per-game so far, with six goals and one assist in seven games.

The Mustangs currently boast an 18-4 record. Peoria is led by the duo of Reid Lune, of Edwards, IL, and Jack Craycroft, of Ankney, IA. Lune has seven goals and 15 assists in 24 games, and Craycroft has two goals and 18 assists in 23 games.

Joseph La Forge, native of Kenosha, and Caleb Sauer, from Waupun, WI, are expected to split time in goal this weekend for The RiverWolves. La Forge has turned back 525 of 595 shots so far this year for an 88.2% save percentage.

Caleb Sauer has turned back 204 of 234 shots for an 87.2% save percentage. Look for Sauer to see more action in net after settling in since joining the RiverWolves in early January.

The Mustangs are expected to start Cole Walter in net this weekend. Walter is a native of Rochester, MN, and has a 93.5% save percentage.

(WAUSAU, WI)- The RiverWolves are headed to Rochester, Minnesota this weekend for a two-game series against the Grizzlies. The game times are set for 7:05 pm on both Friday and Saturday. The RiverWolves are currently winless vs the top team in the Central Division in the Grizzlier and are looking to steal a win this weekend. The RiverWolves will be looking for more firepower from newly acquired players after a big week of trades.

What to Watch For

The RiverWolves acquired a handful of new players over the week. Hayden Shoemake was acquired via trade with the El Paso Rhinos for cash considerations. Shoemake is a forward from San Diego, CA. Daniel Smolen was acquired via trade with the Milwaukee Power in exchange for Ben Cremers. Smolen is a forward from Beaver Dam, WI. Tommy Raith and Kaidden O’Connor were both acquired via trade with the Willmar Warhawks. Raith is a forward from Winnetka, IL, add O’Connor is a defenseman from Mendota Heights, MN. Taylor Frerichs was acquired via trade with the Sheridan Hawks in exchange for Caeden Phelps. Frerichs is a forward/defenseman from Sioux City, Iowa. Richard Zupan was signed as a free agent. Zupan is a forward from Stevens Point, WI.

The Grizzlies are led by Peyton Hart, of Delafield, WI. Hart is currently averaging 1.20 points per game, with 18 goals and 12 assists.

La Forge has turned back 486 of 549 shots so far this year for an 88.5% save percentage. Caleb Sauer has turned back 157 of 183 shots for an 85.8% save percentage.

The Grizzlies are expected to split time between Shane Soderwall and Zach Wiese. Soderwall is a native of Algonquin, IL, and has a 94.8% save percentage. Wiese is from Owatonna, MN, and has a 94.3% save percentage.

The game times are set for 7:10 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 3:10 pm on Sunday. The RiverWolves are currently 0-1 vs St. Louis, with the lone loss coming last time out at home with a final of 7-2. The RiverWolves will be looking to score early this weekend, as they have a 3-1 record when scoring first this season.

Big Time Trades

The RiverWolves acquired Pavel Bakhtin in a trade with the El Paso Rhinos and he had an immediate positive impact. Pavel is a native of West Bloomfield, MI, and played nine games with the Rhinos before coming to Wausau. Pavel was this week’s NA3HL Star of the Week last week after tallying two goals and three assists in his first three games with the RiverWolves. Bakhtin has three goals and six assists in 12 games total so far this year.

The St. Louis Jr. Blues are currently 4th in the Central Division. They boast a 7-10 record and are currently only three games back of Oregon. The Blues are led by Jared Bratton, of Arnold, MI. Bratton is currently averaging 0.65 points per game, with four goals and seven assists.

Joseph La Forge, native of Kenosha, and Caleb Sauer, from Waupun, WI, are expected to split time in goal this weekend for The RiverWolves. La Forge has turned back 447 of 504 shots so far this year for an 88.7% save percentage.

Sauer notched his first win for the RiverWolves last weekend, and he has turned back 100 of 118 shots for an 84.7% save percentage.

The Blues are expected to start a combination of Jeb Lindy and Owen Carlson in net this weekend. Carlson, from Esko, MN, has a 92.9% save percentage and was the NA3HL Star of the Week for the week of December 8th.

(WAUSAU, WI)-The Wausau RiverWolves finish their long weekend with a home matchup vs the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Game time is set for 3:10 pm, where the RiverWolves will look to defeat the current holder of the final playoff spot in the Central Division. This will be the first matchup between these two teams, with 3 more games coming next weekend.

What to Watch For

So far this season, the RiverWolves have had 45 Power Play Opportunities. They currently have a 65% Penalty Kill Percentage, along with an 11.1% Power Play Percentage, with only 5 power play goals scored so far.

The St. Louis Jr. Blues boast a 6-10-1-0 record after splitting games in Rochester Friday and Saturday night. The Blues are led by Jared Bratton, of Arnold, MO. Bratton is averaging 0.67 points per game, with 4 goals and 6 assists in 16 games.

Caleb Sauer, from Waupun, WI, is expected to start Sunday afternoon vs St. Louis. Sauer picked up the win Friday night in Milwaukee after stopping 40 of 41 shots.

St. Louis is expected to start Jeb Lindy in net. Lindy, from Nashville, TN, has a 87.3% save percentage and 4.19 goals against average in 5 games this season.

(WAUSAU, WI)- The Wausau RiverWolves will begin the 2021 year by facing a familiar opponent by taking on the Rochester Grizzlies this evening. This will by the third consecutive home game versus the top team in the NA3HL. Wausau came up short back in their last matchup back on December 18th by a 5-2 score.  Puck drop is set for 7:10 pm at the Marathon Park Ice Arena.

What to Watch For

Wausau will be looking for forward Kasey Couture to return to his 2019-20 form as they return from the holiday break. Couture led the RiverWolves in goals a year ago with 15 goals, but has tallied just one in eleven games this season.

Rochester is lead by forward Peyton Hart. Hart averages 1.17 points per game and has 13 goals and 8 assists so far on the year. Back on December 18th versus Wausau he netted a goal and three assists.

What to Watch For

RiverWolves forward Isaac Wickersheim has been a bright spot all year. Isaac, from Antigo, WI, averages 0.78 points per game, along with 6 goals and 1 assist.

The Rochester Grizzlies are currently reside in the top spot in Central Division. They boast a 13-2 record with their only losses coming against Oregon and Peoria. Rochester is lead byforwards, Peyton Hart and Garrett Smith. Hart, from Delafield, WI, averages 1.13 points per game and has 10 goals and 7 assists so far on the year. Smith, from Eden Prairie, MN, has a 1.08 points per game average with 3 goals and 11 assists on the year.

(WAUSAU, WI)- The Wausau RiverWolves play host to the top team in the NA3HL Central Division in the Rochester Grizzlies (10-2-0-0) tonight at 7:10pm from Marathon Park Ice Arena. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season. Wausau is coming off of 4-0 and 7-3 defeats at the hand of the Peoria Mustangs last weekend in Peoria.

What to Watch For

RiverWolves forward Kasey Couture netted his first goal on the season last Saturday night in his 8th game played. Look for the RiverWolves top goal scorer from a season ago to get his season back on track tonight vs Rochester.

Rochester is lead by third year Grizzlies forward Peyton Hart. Hart has 6 goals and 4 assists for 0.83 points per game.

(WAUSAU, WI)- Hockey is back at Marathon Park Ice Arena as the RiverWolves open their 2020-21 home schedule at 7:10 PM tonight versus the newly formed Oregon Tradesmen.  Wausau is looking to bounce back from last weekends loss to the Tradesmen. Tickets for tonight’s game are sold out. There will be no walk-up sales available. Tickets for our next home game will go on sale beginning Monday at 10am via riverwolveshockey.com.

What to Watch For

RiverWolves forward Isaac Wickersheim scored his first NA3HL goal last weekend vs Oregon. Wickersheim, from Antigo, WI, tallied 84 points in 96 games throughout his high school career, netting 45 goals. Look for him to contribute in a big way in the offensive zone. Keep an eye out for newly acquired forward Caeden Phelps from the Alexandria Blizzard. The skilled forward signed a NAHL tender agreement with the Northeast Generals this past winter and will be a welcomed addition to the top line.

The Tradesmen are led by Ethan McCormack, who was last weeks NA3HL Central Star of the Week. McCormack tallied 3 goals and 4 total points in two games while helping The Tradesmen start 2-0 in the league.

(WAUSAU, WI)- The RiverWolves begin their 2020-21 season campaign tonight at Janesville Ice Arena versus the newly formed Oregon Tradesmen.  Wausau returns just 4 players from last season as the team retooled the roster. Among the new faces are several top players from North Central Wisconsin including Max Beste (Mosinee) and Issac Wickersheim (Antigo), who put up a combined 200 points during their high school careers.

What to Watch For

RiverWolves forward Kasey Couture highlights the returning players for Wausau. Last season Couture contributed 15 goals and 23 assists in 47 games.

The Oregon Trademen are led by former Coulee Region Chill skater Parker Severson who netted with 33 goals last season.
